6-7-26 The baseball collective bargaining agreement expires at the end of this season. There has been a lot of speculation that are in for an extended shutdown. Who knows. It's all guess work unless you have inside information. Many of us don't even truely know the positions each side has presented. Are they close or far apart on the details? What are the key points that need to be agreed upon for a deal to be made? Are some things pretty much agreed upon already? Here is a nice video that details CBA and its evolution. 6-14-26 This weeks video will continue looking at the collective bargaining agreement negotiations. In my opinion it is the biggest story in baseball this season. This weeks video compares the owners and players positions. There is an old saying that the devil is in the details but it is nice to see where each side stands on the major issues. 6-21-26 Last year there was a huge uproar about torpedo bats. Everyone had an opinion. Some said they were the best thing since sliced bread. Some said it really did not make a big difference. There were news stories and videos all over the place featuring the torpedo bat. We moved onto to 2026 and you really don't hear much about the bats. 6-28-26 When a baseball player reaches the Major Leagues he is already an elite player. Most players never make the Show. We all know that there are various classifications of players in baseball. Some are just filler players. Some are regulars and some are elite. All are really necessary to have a league but we all want the top players on our teams and want to minimize the filler players. I found a video that classifies the players. It is kind of interesting. Take a few minutes to watch "The 7 Levels of Hitter".
7-5-26 As the USA celebrates it 250th anniversary we think about all things USA. Baseball has a lot of US players but it also has an aweful lot of foreign players. Do you know where the players were born? Could you identify a baseball team only if you know where the players were born. It's harder than one may think. A couple of sports hosts attempted that feat. They did real well. Check out the episode "We Guessed MLB Teams By Their Players Countries".
7-12-26 The MLB All-Star game is just around the corner. While I think it has lost a lot of it's luster from decades ago it is still probably the best All-Star game of any sport. Players just don't commit to the game like they did in the past. Interleague play had a lot to do with that as does the gigantic salaries players now fetch.
