4-25-26 Baseball has been around a long time, over 150 years. The Major Leagues has been around for over 120 years. You would think that everything that could happen has happened. Some things are rare but they must have happened before, right? Actually, no. Some new things still happen. Some things happen so infrequently that it has occurred in a century. One of those rare things just happened. Check out this video, "Mike Trout Just Did Something So Ridiculous It Last Happened 105 Years Ago".

5-3-26 Sometimes in baseball you see great plays that were made because the player was playing really smart. The player usually has a high baseball IQ. On the other hand sometimes players make real bone head plays. They did not play the baseball thinking game. Maybe you could say these guys had zero baseball IQ. They may play smart most of the time but on a particualar play they just didn't think. Here is a nice video featuring "MLB, 0000% IQ Moments".

5-10-26 One of the new baseball rules this season is the ABS system or sometimes called "Robo-Ump". Personnally I find the system works well. It is fast and gets the call right. Teams and individual players are still getting used to the system and maybe the number of challenges will be changed in the future but so far so good. One group that does not like the system are the umpires. We now have stats to show the number of overturned calls and how bad some of the calls are. The umps don't like the scrunity. Check out "MLB Umpires are FURIOUS about Their ABS Stats".

5-17-26 Another baseball hall of famer passed away this week, Bobby Cox. Cox was best known as the manager of the Atlanta Braves and the Toronto Blue Jays. He was also a player and General Manager. He led the Braves to 14 consecutive division titles. His claim to fame was having the all time record of being ejected 162 times. Wow, a whole season worth of ejections. Here is a nice tribute, "Remembering Hall of Fame manager Bobby Cox".

5-24-26 With the arrival of the ABS system you can understand some umpires are not a fan. One that should be is CB Bucknor. ABS showed how bad he performed in one of his games. His missed calls all over the place. In total he missed a remarkable 20 calls. Thats about 10% of all the pitches thrown! You sure could say he had a bad game. Check out "CB Bucknor missed 20 calls in one game, a breakdown".
