12-14-25 Everyone likes a feel good story. Most people root for an underdog. We admire a person who comes back from adversity, be it an illness or injury or other life alterning event. The same holds true in sports. Most leagues feature a "Comeback Player of the Year" award. I found this video featuring baseball inspirational comebacks. 12-21-25 Baseball players are fine athletes in the prime of their lives. We think all of them are invincible. Occasionally tragedy strikes and takes the lives of one of these players. It may be an accident, illness, or an issue with drugs. Some big name players have died during their career. Roberto Clemente, Thurman Munson, Steve Olin, and Daryl Kile are a few that come to mind. 12-28-25 Over time some very good baseball players get forgotten. Without their name showing up in boxscores and highlights people just move on to new players and forget about the older player. We are capable of this. There are many real good players from the 50's, 60's, and 70's that we just don't think about. Guys like Tony Pena, Rico Petrocelli, Don Buford, and Rusty Staub. The players position also makes a difference. Most of us only remember the real elite relief pitchers. Here is a video about "The Best Reliever That Baseball Forgot".
1-4-26 As we all look over the available players for the upcoming draft we all dream about getting a future major league most valuable player. Is the next Shohei Ohtani or Aaron Judge out there? Only time will tell. It is amazing the feats that these two players have accomplished this year. Here is a nice video highlighting their second consecutive MVP seasons. 1-11-26 Last week we featured a video about the 2025 MVP's. This week we will move to the mound and feature the CY Young award winners. Like the MVP's we have one guy who has won his second consecutive Cy Young award and a first time winner. In the AL it is Tarik Skubal who is the 2 time winner. 1-18-26 Still looking back at the 2025 Major League Baseball award winners. We now move on to the AL Rookie of the year. Ofcourse that is Nick Kurtz. He won the award unanimously. Kurtz had a historic rookie year. There were some competitors for the award but the way Kurtz dominated made the choice an easy one.
