9-21-25 We all remember the baseball stars. The players that you immediately think of when you think of a baseball team. The Babe Ruths, Willie Mays, Ernie Banks, Roberto Clementes of the world. There are great players for every team. But who are the best of the best for each team. It is not a easy task trying to come up with the top 3 to 5 players for each team. On some teams some great Hall of Famers would need to be left off the list. Here is a video that one guy tried to come up with "One Opinion of the Mount Rushmore of each Baseball Teams". Enjoy!
9-28-25 Last week we looked at the Mount Rushmore of hitters for each baseball team. As we all know hitting is only part of the game. How about the pitchers? Well the guy also did a video for pitchers. Here is that video. You may or may not agree with it but it does present a nice place to start thinking. Why isn't blank on the list. Take a look at "Mount Rushmore of Pitchers".
10-5-25 There have been a lot of real good pitchers over the years. We all remember some of them. But others seem to fade from our memory over time. One guy that, when reminded, I remember from back in the day was Al Hrabosy, the "Mad Hungarian". I had forgotten how good he was. Primarily a relief pitcher he had some great seasons winning the Fireman of the year award in 1975. He played for St. Louis, Kansas City and Atlanta during his career. He was famous for his antics on the mound and his Fu Manchu moustache. Check out "The Mad Hungarian' Al Hrabosky Reflects on his Remarkable Hall of Fame Career".
10-12-25 Baseball players have real lifes, just like everyone else. They have ups and downs. Obviously their life is complicated due to their "public persona" Most people do not have to deal with people paying attention to every action and reaction. There is pressure on players. How they react makes a difference. Is there an injury affecting their play? Could an injury make you stop playing the sport that you grew up with, one that you love? Prince Fielder had to deal with a physical injury that cut short his career. Most of us forgot about the story. Take a few minutes ot recall "The Tragic Story of Prince Fielder".
10-19-25 Here is another sad baseball player story. Back in the 70's Lyman Bostock was a very good baseball player. He made all star teams and was a player the other team had to pay attention too. He commanded a huge salary in free agency. His teammates all thought he was a good guy. Being a good guy would get him in trouble though. Doing a favor for someone would lead to his tragic end. Check out "Baseball, Money, and Murder: The Lyman Bostock Story".
10-26-25 I found another tragic baseball player story. Back in the 1970's J.R. Richard was one of the best pitchers in baseball. He dominated on the mound and led the Houston Astro's into the post season a few times. He was definately their "ace". But his story turned tragic. Do you remember the story. I pretty much forgot it. Now is the chance to take a few minutes to relive the story, "J.R. Richard: The TRAGIC story of the life and career of the Houston Astros Ace".
