8-10-25 Three years ago Major League Baseball made a rule change. The added rules to pretty much ban the shift. It also kept infielders off the outfield grass. Baseball moves slow with rule changes. Many people were against the change but some thought it was the right thing to do. Now that it has been a few years how has the rule change worked. Did it make a difference in the game? 8-17-25 A little bit of a rule theme lately. We looked at shift bans and pitch clocks. Baseball moves slow but it does move. What causes baseball to make the rule changes. Can one player be the focus of the change. The Ohtani rule is one example. There have been many more over the years. Some of them recent that we really don't think about much anymore. 8-24-25 Another baseball rules video. There are a lot of rules in baseball. We know a lot of the rules but there are many that are pretty obscure. You would have to be a real baseball scholar to know those rules. There are also a lot of rules that deal with rosters and player movement. Even major league general managers get those wrong sometimes. A lot of the rules were developed because somebody thought they could beat the system and take advantage of something. 8-31-25 Here is another video that is kind of related to rules. We have all watched a lot of baseball over the years. I, for one also watch a lot of other sports. The big ones ofcourse but also more obscure sports (especially in the US). I talking about Rugby, pool, and darts among others. I even watch Cricket at times. We know that Cricket was a contributing sport to the developement of baseball. But do you know what you are watching when you watch Cricket. I really don't. 9-7-25 Another well known baseball star has passed away. Davey Johnson died this week. He was a four time all-star second basemen for a few teams. He was a slugging second baseman once hitting 43 home runs in a season for Atlanta. That was in the day when 40 home runs was really something. Davey Johnson also became a manager. He led 4 different teams to the World Series. He enjoyed a long baseball career. Here is a nice video tribute, "Remembering Davey Johnson (1943-2025)".
9-14-25 We will venture back to the rules videos I've been showing lately. This one is about a baseball rarity. It happpens once is a blue moon but it does happen. What is it? A forfeiture. That last one that I can think of was the Disco sucks promotion by the Chicago White Sox. It may have happened since but I can't think of it. I am sure there are also rules that will cause a team forfeit a game because of some type of techincal error. But what are the rules? Here is a that explains it.
